Key Responsibilities:  Manage the R&D plus eighty member team and R&D-Projects for the Americas and member of the Americas Executive Team. R&D Americas includes R&D-labs and teams in USA, Canada, Brazil, Chile and Mexico.

Manage R&D international multimember team and establish R&D departments for new facilities in the Americas and direct new product development projects.

Act as liaison to customers, sales, and R&D. Assure development of internal and external clients’ relations to maintain communication and provide technical support.

Summary of Experience:

In 1995, began my career as Junior Sales Manager at YSCO (Belgomilk) in Langemark, Belgium. YSCO is a private label ice cream producer part of the largest dairy cooperative in Belgium.

Joined Barry Callebaut in 1996, and held positions of ever-increasing responsibility until 2004. My first position at Barry Callebaut was as a Management Trainee in the Quality Department, where I was responsible for preparing and leading ISO-9001 recertification audit. From 1996 to 1997, I was responsible for the Transport department in Wieze, Belgium. In this position, I lead a department with 4 planners and 30 drivers.

From 1997 through 1999, I held the position of R&D Manager for Southern Europe and Overseas Countries. Helped to increase sales in Italy and Southern Europe by more then 30% by finding customer focused new products and solutions. I was also responsible for development of new products for industrial customers in Southern Europe, Asia and the U.S.

From 2000 through 2004, I was a QA-Manager at Barry Callebaut, Belgium. In this function, I was responsible for a department of 20 people and a facility including an analytical laboratory, microbiological laboratory, and sensory laboratory. I played a leading rule during two ISO-9001 recertification audits and was the external lead auditor of Quality Systems and conducted self-assessment and presentation of case study for Quality award. In addition, I provided training to subcontractors and customers in Quality systems and HACCP.

From 2004 through 2008, I was R&D/QA-Director Europe for Godiva Chocolatier in Brussels, Belgium. In this capacity, I managed the development and launch of over 60 products and implemented new product development processes, which increased the launch of New Product by 42%. As a member of the Godiva Europe Senior Management Team, I built a Quality culture within the company and completely revised the HACCP plan, drastically improving food safety.

From October 2008 through 2013, I was working as the R&D Director for Barry Callebaut Americas. During this time I managed and grew the R&D team in the Americas, establishing R&D departments for new facilities in new countries or new facilities all over the Americas.  Leading and structuring the R&D-group to become a high performance team.

Since 2013 I am working as VP R&D Americas for Barry Callebaut leading a large R&D team all over the Americas region.
