Clive Norton, PhD, is currently Research Principal within the Research & Nutrition function at Mondelez International. He currently leads the sugar and calorie reduction platform across all Mondelez International categories (Chocolate, Biscuit, Beverages, Gum, Candy, Meals).
With 27 years in the industry, he has a wealth of experiences working in Europe, Asia, and America; Cereal, Candy, Chocolate, Petcare, Gum, and Biscuits; Research, Production, and Product Development. Dr. Norton is listed as inventor on 24 patents and published patent applications in this field, and has developed 49 products that have launched to market.
Dr. Norton completed both his bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics and his doctoral degree in Food Science at University of Nottingham, UK. His thesis explored why physicochemical differences between extruded and conventionally processed carbohydrates drive differences in textural and moisture adsorption properties.
Dr. Norton is an avid cyclist, and is ahead of target to climb 100,000m elevation in 2021. He also pursues photography; floral gardening; travelling (not this year!); and spending leisure time with his wife and daughter.
